Lily aims for diverse and realistic housing options for all Renoites. Residents of Reno need no barrier to affordable housing, and they need it now! Having extensive involvement with local and state housing policy, Lily is up to speed and ready to fight for fair, stable, and safe housing for all.
THE TRUCKEE RIVER
Lily prioritizes the health of the Truckee River, advocating for Indigenous-led stewardship. In solidarity with the priorities of River Justice, Lily has participated in river cleanups led by this group and believes that this is the only organization appropriately suited to speak about the health of the Truckee River.
A THRIVING DOWNTOWN
Lily Baran envisions a downtown area that is not only vibrant and thriving but also supportive of the creative community. She is committed to initiatives that promote local arts, culture, and creativity, contributing to a downtown environment that reflects the diversity and richness of the Reno community.
HOMELESSNESS
Homelessness in Reno has had a devastating death toll increasing each year, which is shameful. Lily has been a leading voice in advocacy for people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in the city, county, and state for several years, championing proven and financially responsible solutions to the crisis of our neighbors experiencing a lack of shelter and safety.
LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS
Lily is committed to the expansion of resilient local food systems, urban horticulture, and food security. Through local farms, urban growing projects and accessible food programs, we can close our local food gaps in a healthier and more sustainable way.
COMMUNITY CARE
A key strength of Baran is her ability to inspire and motivate individuals to recognize their potential and take meaningful action. Her commitment to empowering people is reflected in her work with mentees, youth in the community, She aims to create ways that the community can work together to address some of the issues that are unique to downtown residents .
